Carey is a former fashion model. She is 5'10" tall and was very popular among famous American designers, such as Calvin Klein, Ralph Lauren as well as others. Her father is a renowned scientist who was named Scientist of the Year in 1979 at the Rocky Mountain Association of Geologists. Carey's father was a geologist who traveled around the world as part of his profession. While she was at the University of Colorado at part-time, she caught the interest of the Ford model Agency representative in New York. She lived in France briefly, in Paris as well as Bordeaux. She then returned in New York for her college studies as well as to develop her modeling career. She attended full-time classes at New York University, obtaining her major in Literature while working on modeling assignments. Gradually she became interested in acting and attended the Neighborhood Playhouse in New York. In 1986 she made her first appearance in acting with a minor part on the show "Club Paradise" alongside Robin Williams. Skiing, white water rafting and rock climbing are her most loved activities.
